Question

Please use the dataset below to answer the questions. The variables are as follows: Gender: Female (0), Male Political affiliation: Independent (o), Democrat Republican (2) Weight: in pounds Lifespan: in years gender political affiliation weight lifespan 45 255 female democrat 520 45 democrat male 66 female democrat 66 187 male independent 66 201 male democrat 141 70 female republican 71 democrat male 174 republican 73 male 165 74 male republican 75 democrat 77 independent female female independent 132 145 female democrat 140 79 male independent 80 154 republican female 189 republican 82 male 85 male republican 170 88 republican female female independent 160 89 92 female independent

Explanation / Answer

Solution:

Here in this question Null hypothesis will be assumed as mean of all group for political affiliation and Gender for dependent variable(lifespan) will be same.

Alternate hypothesis will be assumed as mean of all group for political affiliation and Gender for dependent variable(lifespan) will be not be same for atleast one different gropu.

Hence, Null hypothesis

H0: 1 = 2 = 3 for( political affiliation)

H0: 1 = 2 for( Gender)

Alternative hypothesis

H1=Not all are equal

T-test for gender and Anova test for Political affiliation is the best test to do in our case

Equal group sizes may be defined by the ratio of the largest to smallest group being less than 1.5. If group sizes are vastly unequal and homogeneity of variance is violated, then the F statistic will be biased when large sample variances are associated with small group sizes. When this occurs, the significance level will be underestimated, which can cause the null hypothesis to be falsely rejected.

In our case ratio of largest to smallest group being less than 1.5. so Test of homogenoity of variance can be applied

From the test table we find that there is not much significance difference b/w male and female life span

Post hoc test can be run for political affiliation only, because there are more than 2 group for political affiliation.

with the help of post hoc test we find that there is difference b/w the lifespan mean of
