Sample mean of urban sample can be calculated as

Mean of farm houses can be calculated as
4+14+11+9+9+8+4+20+5+8.9+21+9.2+3+2+0.3 = 128.4/15
= 8.56
For comparing two sample means we can use separate variance t-shirt rather than pooled variance t-test. Pooled variance t test used for comparing two dependent samples rather than independent samples for which we use separate variance t-test.
