Consider the three tank cascade shown in the figure to the right. Suppose that the volumes of the three tanks are, respectively V1 = 100 gal. V2 = 150 gal and V3 = 200 gal. the input Ls 10 gal/min of pure water, and 10 gal/min of the well-mixed brine in each tank moves down between tanks and out of tank 3 each minute. Initially the re are 20 lb of salt in tank 1, 15 lb in tank 2 and 10 lb in tank 3. If x1 x2 and x3 are the amounts of salt in each of the tanks, derive the system and modeling the cascade. Solve this problem using the eigenvalue method.
