PartlI: Extended Response (2 questions-30 points total) Problem #11 requires no calculations. Explain in your own words. You may use equations to Instructions: aid your explanation, but you may not use equations only. 11. (10 points) A. I throw a ball straight up in the air at 5m/s. When it returns to my hand, is its speed greater than, less than, or equal to 5m/s? Explain. B. Two cars begin at the same position. At time t-Os, car A begins to accelerate at a constant rate of 5m/s2. At time t-1s, car B begins to accelerate at a constant rate of 5m/s'. After t 1s, does the distance between cars A and B increase, decrease, or stay the same? Explain.

Explanation / Answer

11 A) from law of conservation of energy initial energy is Kinetic energy and final energy is also Kinetic energy and both will be equal so we can say speed will also be equal.

B) at t = 1 s car A will gain some speed while car B will be at rest so after t = 1 s distance between car A and B will increase because of that gained speed.
