Question
Here is a portion of Table 4 examining the omega-3 placebo controlled trial aspect of this study. (4 points)
a. Interpret the findings as if the p-value were 0.04.
b. Based on content covered in class, what statistical test would you use to test for group differences in the Week 12-baseline difference scores highlighted in green?
c. What would you choose for alpha level and 1 versus 2-sided test and why?
d. Conduct the test using StatCrunch using a standard deviation of 1.31 for both groups. Paste your output.

(a) If the p value is 0.04 which is less that the alpha value (5%) as it is assumed in most of the cases. Then we can say in statistical terms that there is a significant difference among the groups on placebo and other on drugs. If the p value is 0.04 greater than alpha (0.01) then there in statistical terms there is no significant difference the groups on placebo and on drugs
(b) First the values are given in months. So there is need of correction in the question. But for the sake of information one should remember that if we have two groups and we are interested to test the null hypothesis that both groups have same mean or there is no significant difference in the mean then one should apply two sample independent t-test as sample size is very large then the data satisfy the assumption of normality. Here were are
(c) Alpha level should be chosen as 5% in most the practical situations but in some studies if there is no possible to choose such a large value of alpha then 1% is considered. As in medical field, the human life is very important so 1% is also suitable in the case. As we are comparing two groups then we have to use two sample test.
(d) To solve this part one should mention that for what phase you want to apply the test as we have four time phase. Kinldy submit your question again with more information.
