Then the game stops. All bills are kept by the player. Determine: (A) The probability of winning $17 (B) The probability of winning all bills in the unm (C) The probability of the game stopping at the second draw. (A) What is the probability of winning $17? (Type a decimal or a fraction. Simplify your answer.)

Explanation / Answer

1 dollar -3

5 dollar -1

10 dollar -1

total number =5

a)

for 17 dollar we have to get

combination of (5,1,1) and 10 in final

required probability

= 3*(3*2*1)*1/(5*4*3*2)

=3/20

b) winning all money

(5,1,1,1) and then 10

=4 * 3*2*1*1*1/(5*4*3*2*1)

= 1/5

c) ending game in 2nd draw

any currency except 10 on first draw and 10 $ on 2nd

probability = 4/5 * 1/4

= 1/5

next question

1 dollar -2

5 dollar -1

20 dollar -1

total number =4

a) probability of winning 20000 bonus = 22 dollar

for 22 dollar we have to get

1 dollar then 1 dollar and then 20 dollar

required probability

= 2 / 4*1/3*1/2

=1/12
