Question
I need help with questions 1 and 2 please HW #18 due Friday, 3/16/18 Name 1. Analyze the circuit below to find the longest delay from each input to the two outputs. The individual gate delays are specified below. If there is no path between a specified input/output pair, then state "NA" (for not applicable). te (inverter) 1 ns. te (Nand gate) - 2 ns. (AND gate) 3 ns. te (EX-OR gate) 6 ns. t(Nor gate) 5 ns. 4(A to F) t (B to F) td (C to F)= te (D to F) (D to F) tG (A to G) _ 4(B to G) = h(C to G)- 4(D to G)- OVERExplanation / Answer
1)
Longest delay between specified input output pair
i) td ( A to F)
As input from A to output F has two gates AND & EX-OR in between them.
So,
td ( A to F) = td (AND gate) + td (EX-OR gate)
= 3 + 6
= 9ns
ii) td (B to F)
As input from B to ouptut F has three gates inverter, AND & EX-OR in between them in longest path.
So,
td ( A to F) = td(inverter) + td (AND gate) + td (EX-OR gate)
= 1 +3 + 6
= 10ns
iii) td ( C to F)
As input from A to output F has two gates Nand & EX-OR in between them.
So,
td ( A to F) = td(Nand gate) + td (EX-OR gate)
= 2 + 6
= 8ns
iv) td ( D to F) - NA
Since there is no path from input D to output F.
v)td( A to G) - NA
Since there is no path between input A to output G.
vi) td ( B to G)
As input from B to output G has three gates Nand, inverter & nor gate in between them.
So,
td ( B to G) = td(Nand gate) + td(inverter) + td (Nor gate)
= 2 + 1 + 5
= 8ns
vii) td ( C to G)
As input from C to output G has three gates Nand, inverter & nor gate in between them.
So,
td ( B to G) = td(Nand gate) + td(inverter) + td (Nor gate)
= 2 + 1 + 5
= 8ns
vii) td ( D to G)
As input from D to output G has one Nor gate in between them.
So,
td ( D to G) = td (Nor gate)
= 5ns
