Question #1

Assume that a procedure yields a binomial distribution with a trial repeated n=20n=20 times. Use either the binomial probability formula (or technology) to find the probability of k=17k=17 successes given the probability p=0.54p=0.54 of success on a single trial.

(Report answer accurate to 4 decimal places.)

P(X=k)=P(X=k)=

Question #2

Assume that a procedure yields a binomial distribution with a trial repeated n=5n=5 times. Use some form of technology to find the probability distribution given the probability p=0.298 of success on a single trial.

(Report answers accurate to 4 decimal places.)

k P(X = k) 0 1 2 3 4 5

Explanation / Answer

Question 1

1. Here n=20, k=17 and p=0.54

Now P(K=k)=nCk * pk(1-p)n-k

So P(x=17)=20C17*(0.54)17*(1-54)3=0.003132

You can use exel function '=BINOMDIST(17,20,0.54,FALSE)' ypu will get same resul.

Hope this will be helpful. Thanks and god Bless You:)
