Answers:

A. Randomly assign one to receive a rank of 3 and the other a rank of 4.

B. Both should receive a rank of 3.

C. Both should receive a rank of 4.

D. Both should receive a rank of 3.5.

Explanation / Answer

The ranks cannot be decimal form and so would be whole number. Also as both ended on the same score, they both should have exactly equal ranks.

Clearly the first five is the 3rd term and the second five is the 4th term. We always take the better rank for both of them which is 3rd in this case.

So both of them would have rank 3

Also note that the person with score 7 would be ranked 5 and so there wont be any person with rank 4.

Therefore B is the correct answer here.
