Question
McNemar test We want to know if an automated artificial pancreas, which controls blood glucose and provides insulin continuously, compared to a standard control system in patients with type 1 diabetes, provides better results in the control of blood glucose. The two control systems are used in a group of patients (with and without the artificial pancreas). On two different nights each of these methods is tested in all patients. The response variable is if at any time they have suffered hypoglycemia during the night. The variable is, therefore, dichotomous: to have a hypoglycaemia or not. The following results are obtained: With artificial pancreas No hypoglycemia Yes hypoglycemia Without artificial pancreas No hypoglycemia Yes hypoglycemia 20 Would you recommend the use of the artificial pancreas or not? Conduct the test and explain.Explanation / Answer
H0: You not recommend the use of the artificail pancreas
H1: You recommend the use of the artificail pancreas
Let the los be alpha = 5%
The observed frequencies are
The expected frequencies are
The chisquare contribution values are
Degrees of freedom: 1
Test Statistic, X^2: 0.4286
Critical X^2: 3.841456
P-Value: 0.5127
Here chisquare value < chisquare critical value and P-value > alpha 0.05 so we accept H0
Thus we conclude that You not recommend the use of the artificail pancreas
