Explanation / Answer

Both in groups and out groups are central to the leader member exchange theory. This theory states Leadership as a process that is centered between leaders and their followers.

The interation between the followers and leaders results into formation of in-group/ out-group.

In in-group, leaders are more close to the followers, thereby communicating more which results in producing more opportunities for positive outcomes for the organisation.

Whereas in out-group, they meet and discuss, however, they do not put in extra efforts for the same.

The leadership model can be taken as a guide which would suggest a defined behavior of leaders in the environment/situation.

I would identify myself as an in-group member as i take keen interest in knowing my leader, talking about his goals for the organisation, suggesting changes/ alternatives for the goals and the means wo achieve them which creates a harmony in the organisation and it works as a close knit family.
