In this case, the manager seems upset with the capabilities of the person, the manager has lost confidence on her. In this case the employee should first try to regain her manager's confidence by proving herself with some extraordinary work or idea or completing the tasks which she feel she shouldn't be given. Taking a less challenging work shows your commitment to work as it highlights your willingness to work and it doesn't bother you that the work is small or big. She can persuade by showcasing her abilities, capabilities, by quantified communication with facts and figures and evidences reflecting your hardwork and commitment. By highlighting her successes and references where she has expertise will work as a catalyst by which the manager can trust you with the responsible work.
