Major factors that lead to alcohol consumption are Blind following of Westernisation, peer pressure, lack of information etc. Around 29% of Male population consumes Alcohol. Whereas, the female alcoholism seems to be low i.e. around 1-2%.

4) There are information centres devoted to alcoholism and drugs prevention in India. Rehabilitation centres have been established. Government has launched Helpline dedicated to help alcohol and drug abusers. Government is trying to promote healthy habits in youth in the form Yoga, Meditation, Sports, etc.

5) India is having diversified culture with diverse religions. There are Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, etc. Religion is acting in a positive way in prevention of alcohol or drug abuse. As every religion promotes the healthy living and prevents any kind of abuse.

6) Alcoholism or drug abuse is not just one problem. It comes with a whole lot of problems such as accidents, financial issue, sexual abuse, etc. In some countries alcohol is consumed as a cover to cold weather. So it is important to understand these things before blindly following anything.
