The music industry has a continuous growing influence on our kid’s today. Parent’s are unaware of the meaning behind many of the music lyrics that have been released throughout the years. The constant song heard on the radio can seem harmless, however the meaning behind it tends to go unnoticed. Popular songs heard everywhere can have a hidden meaning about sex, drugs, and violence. Parent’s will never know unless they begin to monitor the music their kids listen too, and research on the true meaning behind the songs. The experiment I have conducted to present to you focuses on High School students. High school is a crucial time for developing young adult. They are old enough to understand what these “harmless” songs really mean. Which makes their behavior more vulnerable to be influenced on the type of behavior they may present in an everyday situation. Group A will be listening to explicit music for the next 3 months, and Group B will be listening to non-explicit music for 3 months. During the 3 months of listening to music, the students will be studied very closely on an everyday basis to see how much influence music has on them when faced with different scenarios. The independent variable is the type of music the group of high school students are exposed too. And my dependent variable is how music influences the type of behavior the student presents when faced with different situations. This experiment will measure how much influence music has on high school students. Some ethical considerations that will need to be followed is students who listen to explicit music, could behave in such a way when faced with something as little as getting a bad grade, socially withdrawing from family and peers, and possibly violent behaviors. As oppose to someone who listens to non-explicit music receiving a bad grade, and various situations as stated above could have little to no reaction. The experiment I have conducted is using the correlational strategy because of the type of music students are listening to may have on effect on behaviors such as from being violent, possibly withdrawing from family and social profiles as well as interpersonal relationships with friends and family. The outcome I hope to receive from this experiment is to make parents aware that the music industry has a huge impact on our developing High School students. Their music should be monitored for hidden meanings that could easily turn your kids to drugs, violence, and possibly social and family withdrawals. The popular song of the month is promoting the use of marijuana or cocaine without anyone really knowing it. Music has a bigger influence on our kids and parents have little knowledge of what is being promoted. Parent’s need to be completely aware of what their kids are listening to, to avoid behavioral problems in their developing high school student

The intention of this experiment is good ,that is to study the effect of contemporary music and song on the adolescents. If the study is carried out on taking consideration the ethical issues as taking consent for the minors participants from their parents and the care takers,and providing them the education about the experiment and the consequences. For the group exposed to the implicit songs during the experiment, should be educated after the study and should under go necessary counseling process for the behavior management programs if the outcome of this study is according to the hypothesis.
