Question
Styl ADOLESCENCE I often think of adolescence as the "bridge between" only there is no going back on this bridge. You see, their bodies and minds are going in different directions and sometimes (unless they are really lucky) both aren't always able to keep up with one another. Fortunately, the adolescent experience doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing as we have learned this week. The beliefs we have come to associate with this stage are strongly dependent on the environment as Margaret Mead proposed to us years ago. With the right types of environmental support and assistance, this stage of development can become a world of idealism and possibility. For others with less consistent environmental support, we should anticipate there may be missteps along the way. Think back to your own early adolescent stage and what that was like for you, be sure to review the materials for this week, and then address the questions below: THE DISCUSSION 1) Discuss some of the difficulties adolescents face in day to day decision making and how these difficulties are related to their basic cognitive abilities. 2) How might either Piaget's Theory of Cognitive Development or Information Processing Theory explain difficulties you identified above? 3) Use one of the theories above to describe how it would explain adolescent's collective risk for one of the following: early sexual actvity, pregnancy, drug use, suicide, or delinquency Required APA Discussion Format: 1. You must include in-text APA citations IN your discussion. 2. At the bottom of your discussion, you will space down twice and type REFERENCES. Underneath the phrase REFERENCES, you will list no less than two references (one should be your textbook and the other should be a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal article) that match the in-text citations IN your initial discussion post. Make sure references and citations you are using in this discussion are honest, accurate descriptions of information you are actually using for source information.Explanation / Answer
Adolescence
Discussion
1- Adolescence is known as the age of transition between childhood and adulthood, Stanley Hall described this age as the age of emotional imbalance and psycho-physical devolvement. In this age the rapid growth and physical changes effects the behaviour.
The adolescence faced a behavioural changes as well as mental and social maladjustment so that it influence our daily life.
Aggressive behaviour, idealism, uncontrolled emotion are the basic symptoms of this age, an adolescence faces the problem from their social structure and psychomotor structure.
2- The cognitive development theory of Jean Piaget and information processing theories define this age in different ways.
Piaget’s concrete operational stage and abstract operational stages belong to adolescence as well as the IPO or information processing theory described the arguments to development of specific kind of behaviour. In the adolescence, we can see both behaviour of child and adult.
3- The theory of cognitive process says that the collective risk may increase in the age of adolescence because of inability of decision and emotional imbalance. The early sexual activities, pregnancy, drug use, suicide and delinquency go through this age because the Psycho-Physical imbalance react unconditionally and adolescence drives by emotion. Effects of same age groups, achievement motives, curiosity and physical needs lead the adolescence to non-social behaviour.
