Explanation / Answer

The study focused on identifying the intimate partner violence and the effect of it on the health of men and women. The study used the National Violence against Women Survey—a national probability sample of U.S. men and women for data collection. The study concluded that women’s health is affected more than men’s health but it gives a slight indication that less ill effect on men’s health shouldn’t be ignored. The research question is ‘Patterns of Intimate Partner Violence and Their Associations with Physical Health, Psychological Distress, and Substance Use’ and it is formulated well. This research is very important today because it’s relatively a new area. Different areas were studied in relation to physical health, psychological stress and substance use. Violence was once believed to be experienced by women and not men. This study focused on both men and women. Violence affects people’s mental health and thus affecting one’s physical health. Some are even forced to take drugs.
