(Answer) According to the Washington Post, US News and the Heritage Foundation, The common core education standards was the collective effort of the CCSSO and the NGA. This new education standard has been adopted by 45 states and has received a 76% approval rating from teachers.

It has been adopted to help American students grow up with an international standards education system that might train them well to compete in international markets. However, the common complaint is that the standardisation system is too rigid and does not allow the teachers to take an individualistic approach towards each child and harness their inherent nuances and creativity.

Since the common core does not outline areas where the teachers have their freedom to add activities and lessons to the curriculum based on the type of students they teach, it is clear that this standard has been discussed far less than it should have been. Therefore, the most likely reason for the disapproval is that the standards do not state clear, understandable, and consistent goals with consideration to the uniqueness of each child. Several news reports also concur that these standards have not been thoroughly discussed.
