Question

Can you help explain in detail the answer?

The residents of a housing development for senior citizens have completed a survey in which they indicated how physically active they are (X) and how many visitors they receive each week. You find the following regression equation: Y = 14.04 - 0.56X. Select an appropriate conclusion below.

A one unit increase in physical activity is expected to result in .56 more visitors per week.

A .56 increase in physical activity is expected to result in one fewer visitor per week.

A person who is not at all physically active would be expected to have approximately 14 visitors a week.

A person who is not at all physically active would be expected to have approximately .56 visitors a week.

Explanation / Answer

A person who is not at all physically active would be expected to have approximately 14 visitors a week.this is an appropriate conclusion as if the physical fitness is zero that means X=0 and hence when 0.56v is multiplied with X which is equal to 0 it will result in a zero and when 0 is subtracted from 14.04 the Y i.e. the no. of visitors per week will remain 14.04 which are approximately 14 visitors per week.
