The notion of beauty presented is much more different from what is really present in the society as a result of which the younger people who fall short of the portrayed self image, fail to develop a police self esteem. There are a number of factors that help in development of the identity of a person, along with development of self esteem, be it positive or negative.
When a person identifies himself, they begin to express the independence that they have gained. The dependence that younger children have on parents is much more as compared to the older children. After moving from adolescence to adulthood, there is a positive or negative image formed, which is influenced by the thoughts in adolescence. People begin to show self confidence along with having an awareness of self . This is the time when people begin to recognise their weakness as well as their strengths. When a person tends to achieve goals, they develop a sense of self esteem, though, this self esteem could be challenged by the digital media.
The media portrays an image of women whose images may be altered digitally. This portrayal of slim, slender women, has led to the formation of images of beauty that are stereotypical and devoid of reality. Today, the quest to achieve beauty has become the thought of every person. And beauty is not what comes from within, but what has been presented by the digital media. Hence, the marathon to achieve an imaginary perception of beauty.
