If you give an example of a sentence of a language other than English, please translate the various meanings for us. 2) A "text" that is not exactly what it appears to be at first glance, or "says" something other than with words (suclh as an advertisement, a application or Internet service, etc.). Clearly identify some of the claims the "text" you select makes. Your initial post should be at least 250 words. See the syllabus for moreExplanation / Answer
2) A "text" that is not exactly what it appears to be at first glance, or "says" something other than with words has been chosen from an advertisement tagline.
The tagline is "Connecting People" used by Nokia.
This tagline is not only talking about two people having a conversation over the mobile phones but also 'getting connected' over it. This connection brings a humane touch to the advertisement.
Research has shown that an emotional content in any kind of campaign gives a higher response than merely putting the points forward. The value of the product therefore gets enhanced with the usage of this metaphorical text.
It has been studied that an emotional appeal touches more hearts and people get more motivated to buy a product. A mobile phone advertisement with only its specification would have made it complicated and dull for the common people to understand. This is another reason why an emotional reasoning is a better reasoning.
Emotional appeal could be in any form: happiness, sadness, anger or fear. "Connecting People" has evoked the feelings of happiness.
