Explanation / Answer

I think same gender marriage and embracing homosexuality would have been considered extremely bad and problematic in our grandparents generation. The people back then, would have considered it as a "disease" and might have found ways to "treat" it. Also the behaviour of not getting married, and a woman being a single parent or even having a live in relationship would definitely had been punished.Women were meant to stay at homes and get married early and bear children and not have relationships before marriage. It was a no big deal for a man to a hit a women back then,a husband was "entitled" to do that whenever needed. There were no laws to deal with domestic violence back then but today its a big deal, women know their rights and men do get punished.Women empowerment is growing today. So,definitely its a big deal today and should not be overlooked. Women were also married off aganist their wishes, and even child marriages were on a rise back then which was "normal" but today laws have been made, and people indulging in it can be punished. There is an age limit for getting married for girls as well as boys and forceful marriages are also a big deal today and a criminal offense especially in India.
