Yes the antagonist muscle change its level of activity when the agonist muscle is stretched. So in the skeleton muscle there occurs the various movement that are taking place in the body. So it is very essential for the body to carry out the movement in an opposite order for the opposite muscle such that the one muscle relax while the opposite to it should contract. So the reflex movement of the muscle which relax called as antagonist while the movement producing muscle gets contract called as agonist.amd how this mechanism occurs? its occurs as this reverse action requires the inhibition that to get corporated to the interneurons of the spinal cord. So due to which the antagonist and agonist mechanism takes place.
