a. If 20 units of the end item are to be assembled, how many additional units of E are needed? (Hint: You don't need to develop an MRP plan to determine this.)

Explanation / Answer

a) For 1 unit of End Item, the number of units of E required = BE+CE+DE = (2*2)+(1*2)+(3*2) = 12.

For 20 units of End item, the number of additional units of E required = (20*12) - 12 = 228 units

b) End item -> start of week 17 => start date = 17-2 = 15 weeks.

Item B, C and D ---> Max start week => 15-2 = 13 weks for all three.

Items E and F -> Max start week = 13-2 = 11 weeks

Items G and E -> Max start week = 13-1 = 12 weeks.

Items H and E -> Max start week = 13-2 = 11 weeks.

The order can be started maximum at 11th week.
