Different? Points earned 2ptsExplanation / Answer
3. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter found in synapse ( gaps between nerve cells). It helps to pass on electrical impulse from axon of one neuron to dendrite of another neuron at synapse. It helps in muscle movement, sensation of pain, learning, regulation of endocrine system etc.
Acetylcholinesterase is an enzyme that catalyzes the breakdown of Acetylcholine. Thus it helps to terminate synaptic transmission. It's deficiency may cause muscle cells to remain in contracted state. Thus cells will not respond to new signals from brain. It will thus lead to muscle spasm.
Dopamine is released by brain and it helps in behaviour and cognition. It also helps in sleep, maintains mood and learning. Abnormal dopamine levels can cause Parkinson's disease and drug addiction.
Serotonin is a chemical produced by nerve cells and is mostly found in digestive system. It helps to reduce depression, anxiety and stimulate nausea. It helps in bowel movement as it is found inside intestines.
4. Both muscle cells and nerve cells are sensitive and bring about changes by depolarisation of cell layer. Both are excitable and nerve impulse cause them to respond.
The difference in these two tissues is that nervous tissue use electrical impulse whereas muscle tissue depend on contracting of muscles to carry out function. Also nervous tissue is made up of neurons whereas muscular tissue is made of different types of cells related to their function.
