Instructions
Look at the following Weight Satisfaction Survey questions, data, Minitab data analysis output, and scatterplot. The data are similar to what would have been obtained if you sent the survey to 10 people. Your task is to evaluate the information and determine if there are any significant results and also to determine if there are any apparent gender differences. Based on your observation and evaluation, prepare a report in a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document.
Questions for Weight Satisfaction Survey:
Answer the following questions to the best of your ability:
Gender

Data has been entered in the table under the variable names given in parentheses at the end of the survey questions. It is important to note that each participant has two lines of data, and the answer to the open-ended question is typed on the second line. The coding information for the variables that need coding is as follows: gender (1 = male, 2 = female), satis (1 = yes, 2 = no), exreg (1 = yes, 2 = no), misrep (1 = yes, 2 = no), and mind (1 = yes, 2 = no).

Study Results: Write a results section that includes the descriptive statistics for age, weight, and height. Also, look at the data for the satis, exreg, misrep, and mind variables for the males and females. Determine the frequency counts of the yes or no responses for the males and females. Does it seem the males and females responded differently to any of the questions?
How You Would Handle the Participants: You must write a brief statement to answer the following questions:
How would you feel if you had to collect the data from any of the participants who were selected for this study? Which specific participants might feel embarrassed and why?
How would you handle their discomfort while answering questions? What would you do if they wanted to stop filling out the survey?

Explanation / Answer
Each participant is valuable. They are the richest source in any kind of research study. The participant's rights have to be valued. In any research study, it is important for the researcher to build trust. Trust play a very important role here. Rapport has to be established which is the primary source to receive trust. It is this which defines the course of any research activity. People feel embarrassed when they are not received genuinely and trustfully, but when that has been established, people become more open to vulnerabilities, which becomes easier for the researcher to pursue the research.
In a research project as this, the possible participants who would feel embarrassment are the ones who would feel their weight is a hindrance to a good personality. Usually, the overweight and the underweight people take this position. But as stated above, it is important to build a rapport in a way where the researcher would gain the trust of the participant which will further facilitate the process.
It is also important to make the participant valued. Valuing their rights, right of discontinuing the experiment any time they wish has to be clearly stated. Informed consent has to be a part of the experiment, it has to be transparent, and whenever they feel like quitting, the researcher can make efforts to ask the reason behind, but has to give them the choice of quitting when they can. These ethical considerations have to be followed very strictly in any type of research. It is important to know that a researcher has to not cause any harm physically, psychologically or spiritually. The rights of the participant has to be valued and validated.
