Question

Here is the Anti-Tyranny argument:

If the people or the citizenry of the country are well armed with handguns and semi-automatic rifles, it is considerably less likely that a tyrannical government (a government that completely overthrows our constitutional rights) will take power in the United States. This tyrannical government could be of foreign origin, or it could be domestic (a coup by the military or some group that has power over the US military).

Assignment:

Come up with and carefully present at least one counter-argument or objection to the Anti-Tyranny Argument. That is, I want you to criticize the argument (and, if you wish, you may also present a rebuttal to those criticisms). Even if you agree with the Anti-Tyranny argument, put yourself in the mind of the opponent and search for a rational objection against it (as presented here). You may in turn respond to that objection. I had an answer earlier that was done incorrectly. All
I ask is for this answer to be based on either a counter-argument or objection to the Ant-Tyranny Argument, and to be atleast a mininal of 5 sentences. Please. It is due today. Thank you very much.

Explanation / Answer

Counter-arguments or objection to the Ant-Tyranny Argument:

The Ant-Tyranny Argument allows civilians to have guns but these weapons are totally ineffective in the case of Tyranny by the Military which has much more powerful weapons like; tanks, bombs, and missiles. An uprising of the civilians will not be so organized that it can fight against the tyranny of the establishment with such weapons that are less powerful. Countries like the United Kingdom that are stricter when it comes to civilians having the permission to keep arms have not faced the issue of Tyranny.
