Safety at work

Introduction :

OSH Act, also known as OSHA , is also known as the occupational safety and health act, gives rules that makes the employer give proper health care conditions to the working employees such that they are free from dangers. This makes sure that work at the work place are protective and have standards that are compliant of health. The OSHA was created inside Department of labour and was signed by president Richard M. Nixon on 29th December 1970. This came as an implementation as a result of outcry by the public, since the number of deaths were increasing in those years. The agency tries to reduce injuries, deaths or illnesses at a workplace.

After home, the second place where a person spends most of his time is his workplace. For all adults, working is essential so that they can fulfil their own as well as their family needs. With the increasing number of people working in one particular setting, there is a high chance of contracting infectious diseases. Also, in settings such as that of mining and heavy machine work, there can be innumerable number of accidents that can even lead to death. Employers wouldn't even mind to take the responsibility. In such situations, when we know how much a place of work is important in a person's life, wouldn't it make sense IF there were absolute laws to protect each and every person for any kinds of harm at their second home? Yes, it would. And to protect that, OSHA came into play. For a normal and healthy person, not only the work place stress creates passive stress, but also may Be responsible for health hazards.

After OSHA had been implemented, the employers have started to be more responsible of the people working in their firms. Employers are now in proper care of their employees. Any employee who feels that there is something wrong at the workplace and that they feel UNSAFE, they can contact the OSHA regarding their problems. OSHA says that any hazards that might be faced by the employee have to be pre informed. They need providing safety training to the employees. Also, the employers require to provide all the personal protective equipments to the employees. Moreover, OSHA establishes that temporary workers and permanent workers should not find any difference in safety.
