Andrew is a 5 year old in a 3-5 year old class at Head Start. On the first day of school, he enters the classroom, swats you on the behing and then moves on to an area where children are constructing a tower. He walks into the area and knocks over the otwer and laughs. When the children cry, he calls them a " cry baby". At circle time, you notice he cannot keep his hands and feet to himself. He kicks at the child nearst him and when children walk close to hium he puts out his hands and feet to trip them. How will you address this??

Explanation / Answer

This kind of abusive behavior should be addressed by cooperation between the teacher and the parents, both should set clearly defined limits; by not accepting any excuse for any misbehavior by the child. The kid should be held responsible for the abusive behavior and the media should be monitored at home and school.
