Question

Consider this scenario:

I am the owner of a burger store and I want to expand my business.

I need to prepare a human resource management plan to show an overview of my human resource management system.

This plan is the bigger picture that shows the synergy between all my human resource management functions.

I need to do to an overview on how important my employees (chef, waiters, restaurant manager) are in making or breaking my business expansion.

Please provide me with an appropriate answer on how to show the synergy between all my HRM functions (Recruitment, selection, training, performance appraisal) in my expansion plan.

Your help is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Explanation / Answer

HRM Plan

The possible HRM functions for a burger store which has the capability to expand in future include -

1. Hiring the staff which includes chef, waiters, payroll executive, restaurant manager etc.

2. Training, if any required for the staff with respect to customer service, hotel management related

3. Performance evaluation which evaluates the performance of the employees

4. Payroll function which manages the payroll viz. salary, benefits etc. of the employees

As the store needs skilled resources as chefs and experienced resources in customer service as the waiters, it needs to create job analysis for the candidates who can undergo a recruitment process depending on the kind of job. Once recruitment is done, the resources need to be reviewed for the skillset that they might require to improve their productivity and quality at job. Depending on their experience and current skillet, any required firm specific and skill-specific training needs to be provided.

Once the resources are onboarded on to their jobs, they need to be reviewed and evaluated for their performance from time to time and a final performance evaluation for finalizing the ratings, pay hikes(if any) and improvement discussions. This is an ongoing process.

Payroll executive maintains and manages employee pay data which might include salary, benefits and any bonuses based on which the payment needs to be processed for the staff.

Hence, the basic information for any HRM system is the employee details against which training plan, skill development and update, performance evalution and payroll processing are done.
