Question

The following recombination frequencies were found for geneson a chromosome: a-c = 20% b-c = 12% a-b = 32% a-d = 8% Determine the relative positions of these genes on thechromosome:    a.    b-a-c-d    b.     c-a-b-d c.    b-d-c-a    d.     a-b-c-d Is there a correct answer to this question? Explanation / Answer

the second post is correct. The higher the frequencies, the greaterthe distance between the alleles on a chromosome. I don't thinkthere is a correct answer to the question, but the best answer Iwould say is C. Since the highest frequency is 32 for genes a andb, they should be the farthest apart, which makes C the mostcorrect choice. Alothough the other positions do not matchperfectly with what you want it to be, remember the question isasking for relative positions.
