Victims have certain rights like right to protection, right to dignity and respect, right to have relevant information and right to get accused punished in speedy manner.
However , the manner in which criminal justice system operates , victim is further victimised. A victim has to give testimony many times , few time to police and investigation and then to magistrate or judicial authority. This revictimise the victim by asking him to rethink the trauma or crime .
Moreover, victim is targeted by prosecution's indiscriminate and sometimes irrelevant questions. For example , prosecution may ask a rape victim how the accused started the process. It may hurt the victim again and she can just reexperience the trauma associated.
