Early & exclusively breastfeeding babies in the first six months &feeding the children foods with the right balance of nutrients provides them with the vital ingredients needed for a fully-functioning immune system that can protect them from illness, infection &disease.
Breastfeeding is important everywhere – in the world’s poorest countries. There, isa contamination of artificial milks or infant formulas due to unclean water and poor hygiene conditions can quickly lead to malnutrition, illness &even death. Breastfeeding removes this risk
The first two years of a child’s life are very important for their future. If babies don’t have the proper food & care during this special time, the effects can be devastating. Nearly half of child deaths worldwide are due to malnutrition. & those who survive, many must live with the consequences: they are likely to be small for their age, perform less well at school and be more susceptible to illness.
Mothers who breastfeed are at lower risk for osteoporosis, uterine & ovarian cancer, and post-natal depression. & the infants are likely to suffer from dieases later in life , including leukaemia ,diabetes & high blood pressure.
BREAST FEEDING BOOSTS THE BRAIN DEVELOPMENT OF A BABY :There is growing evidence that breastfeeding improves the brain development of infants, breastfeeding improved cognitive development & allowed children to do better in their educations
While comparing the breast fed & the non breastfed many astounding results came forward The baby-friendly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed the results at the brain growth in a sample of children under the age of 4 while they slept that all of the babies had normal gestation times, that came from families with similar socioeconomic status.
MRI technique that looks at the microstructure of the brain's white matter, the tissue that contains long nerve fibers helped different parts of the brain communicate with each other. the technique looks for amounts of myelin, the fatty material that insulates nerve fibers & speeds up the electrical signals between neural networks within the brain.
The researchers found that by age of two, babies who had been breastfed exclusively for at least three months had enhanced development in key parts of the brain compared to children who were fed formula exclusively or who were fed a combination of formula and breastmilk. The extra growth was most pronounced in parts of the brain associated with language, emotional function, and cognition, the research showed.
