Question

Please type down (easy for me to copy and paste) your thoughts and viewpoints after reading the following paragraph. (Mini 2 paragraphs, at least 5 sentences for each paragraph. about 250 words - 350 words)

Jon Bowers gives a lot of examples to prove that currently people get used to good enough, and they don’t realize how the good enough will affect our life. Amazon’s engineer made a small code error result in 160 million dollars loose in four hours. The small technology error makes huge difference in Internet, the slowdown of website affects the experience million people. There are so many codes in one program, seems like the engineer works good enough. Jon Bower thinks that today we all fear of failure, but actually we need to failure. Failure is a nature stepping towards to perfection. When people are afraid that idea of failure and the idea of perfection, they choose to dismiss the it. The fact is that the failure wouldn't ruin us and we shouldn't choose the slow website, the danger roads just because we are afraid of it. The imperfection and failure are same thing. Perfection is too hard to achieve, so that people just dismiss the failure and lower the standard to make things acceptable. Good enough is not perfection, for the huge effect of the good enough, we should seek the perfection to making our life better. Is trying our best good enough? Do you think 99% is good enough? How do you define the perfection? Why would you agree/disagree with Jon Bowers's perception.

Explanation / Answer

Perfection is a state of mind and perfection is only an ideal state. What is perfect for one person may not be perfect for another. What was considered as perfect, got new faces when it went through the next generation. Sometimes, people think of perfection and never do anything because they keep talking about making it perfect but never start doing it. It's all about doing it and keep improving it later by getting feedback and suggestions from others. I think perfection depends on one's satisfaction because when one is satisfied with the work they had done and if it brings joy to whoever is concerned, then they have still attained perfection.

It's true that good enough is not good but it's all about the number of people who derive pleasure and satisfaction from the work. Fear of failure would stop one from acting and fear of unknown will also stop one from acting. When one overcome these two and accept failure as part of success or the pre-stage of success, one would feel more empowered to do things. Perfection should also be attached with experience because one cannot expect a person with two year experience with a person who has got 20 years of experience. The latter is obviously would be expected to do it more perfectly than the former. Thus in my opinion, people should do without waiting to make things perfect because human mind never gets satisfied with what it has and it would always look for some mistake and that's the defect of human beings showing that they are not perfect.
