Should polygamy be allowed as a legal practice in the United States?
Please give a considered response to this question. Be sure to include some consideration of the limits of tolerance in a secular society like ours and the possible conflicts that could be generated by legally allowing this practice. You don't have to cover all of the possible conflicts, just a couple of what you think would be some of the major ones. If there is a possible aspect to this practice that we shouldn't tolerate, then why shouldn't we tolerate it? If you have strong feelings about this and you want people to know it, that's fine, but make sure you try to back up your opinion with good reasons.

No. In my opinion polygamy shouldn't be legally allowed in the united states. No
There are many reasons behind this opinion.
First and foremost being the loyality, which is the key to your partner's good mental health. Polygamy may develop certain stress regarding maintaining many relationship at a time and would hamper his/her professional life.
Secondly if you aren't happy with your married life then divorce is always an option. And not adultery or extra marietal affair.
Certain times when a women is not allowed to be sexually involved that is during pregnancy or lactations are all a myth created by people wanting to legalize polygamy. The point is women can have sex in her reproductive period of her life and after that too.
Polygamy is considers polygyny if a male is having more than 1 wife and polyandry if a female is having more than 1 husband.
Second and the most important point is people having multiple sex partners tend to develop more sexually transmitted disease like Aids, syphilis, gonorrhoea etc. easily. And infections of urogenital tracts.
Thirdly with so many children in the family it affects your financial condition and proper nurturing of children is difficult especially talking about the poor families.
Polygamy, according to this Science Daily report, increases crime rates & violence. It’s been theorized that monogamous marriage has been an adaptation of humanity to minimize the problems inherent in a polygamous system.
So in my opinion polygamy should be stopped if it is being practised as divorce is a better option if one isn't so happy with his / her married life.
