Question
Please Help, will rate answer :)
Alveoli are lined by a thin layer of simple squamous epithelium because: 0 a. this allows for rapid diffusion of CO2 from alveoli to capillaries this allows for rapid diffusion of O2 from alveoli to capillaries C. this allows for rapid diffusion of O2 from capillaries to alveoli O d. a and b are correct e. a and c are correot QUESTION 4 The size and shape of alveoli are ideal for their function because: a there is a large surface area for diffusion they contain large volume for storage of 02 and CO2 othey can easily collapse for spaficncy when not in use O b. O d. none of the aboveExplanation / Answer
Question
Answer is B
In the respiratory system, the lungs plays an important role in exchange iof gases. The actual exchange of gas is takes place in alveoli. The alveoli contains two types of cells
i. Type I alveolar cells which lines the walls of alveoli.
ii. Type II alveolar cells which are present between Type I cells and the secrets surfactant , it keeps lungs moist.
Type I cells are simple squamous epithelial cells which allows the exchange of gases between alveoli and capillarie.
The exchange always takes from high pressure to low pressure. The Oxygen present in the alveoli diffuses into blood capillaries and the carbondioxide present in capillaries diffuses into alveoli to lungs to expire out.
The inhaled air has more Oxyegen and expired air has carbondioxide.
Question 4
Answer is A that is there is large surface area for diffusion.
The lungsis mainly responsible for exchange of gases. The gas exchange is takes place alveoli. Normally each lung contains approximately 300 million of alveoli that increases the surface area of alveoli. The increased surface area always increases the difussion. The lung exchanges approximately 5 to 8 liters of air each minute.
The alveoli cells are simple squamous epithelial cells. it is single layer of flat cells that irregular in shape. All these increases surface area and increases rate of diffusion.
