Part 1: a) Kissing disease is known as infectious mononucleosis which is caused by the Epstein Barr virus . b)signs and symtoms: the signs and symptoms vary with age, in children the disease typically produce flu like symptoms such as throat infections, and in adolscent and young adults: they have symptoms like fever, sore throat and swollen glands, headaches abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting and prominent sign of the disease is often the pharyngitis with enlarged tonsils with pus an exudate, spleen enlargement in 2nd and 3rd week, in older adult sore throat and lymphadenopathy. c)Diagnosis and treatment:1)medical history,2)physical examination: includes palaption of enlarged lymph nodes in the neck and spleen 3)heterophile antibody test is a screening test, this test is specific but not particularly sensitive,4)serology it detect antibodies directed against Epstein Barr virus IgG, when positive mainly reflects a past infection, whereas IgM mainly reflects a current infection. 5)Epstein Barr nuclear antigen, and blood film.treatment : meciations: paracetmol and NSAIDS to reduce fever and pain, and corticosteriod to reduce throat pain or enlarged tonsils and antiviral is recommended for severe disease. Part 2 a) When the healthy person is exposed to the tuberculosis organsims will be cured easily with medication and good diet prescribed by the doctor, if the unhealthy or chronic illness or suppressed immune system is exposed to tuberculosis will be more precaution then healthy person he has to good diet and medication more then the healthy person, and it may take more time for him to get cured then healthy person. b)Signs and Symptoms of Tuberculosis : in active TB, a bad cough that lasts for 3weeks or longer, pain inyour chest, coughing up blood or mucus, feeling week, unexplained weight loss, chills high fever, sweating at night, loss of appetite. c)Diagnosis of TB: TST/PPD skin test, chest xray, AFB sputum smear and culture, drug susceptibility testing, interferon gamma ray release assay.Treatment: it varies to the patient with active and latent TB , chemoprophylaxis is used to cure it , isoniazid is used to prevent latent TB from stopping it to become active and most commonly used drugs are isoniazid, rifampin, pyrazinamid and ethanbutol and DOT( directly observed treatment ) the multi drug therapy is given for 6 to 12 months.
