Forum Topic: Please describe a disease or physiological disorder that is associated with altered function of the endocrine system. Write it as a case study, including the symptoms you think the patient would have based on the altered physiology.

Physiological disorder associated with altered function of the endocrine system
CUSHING's SYNDROME
It is the disorder of adrenal gland that occurs due to excessive seceretion of the hormone cortisol. It is known as hypercortisolism. It can also occur by increased intake of corticosteroids.
Causes
Physiologicl changes
- Normally the adrenal gland secrets required amount of cortisol, and helps in normal regulation of sugar levels and metabolism. It also helps to reduce inflammation.
-When adrenal gland abnormally increases cortisol secretions, there is marked imbalance in blood sugar levels and metabolism defects.
