Question

According to Human Physiology please answer the following questions with Detailed Explanations, thank you.

67) Blind spot test; what’s the blind spot (optic disk)?

68) The heart’s pacemaker (graphs of diastolic depolarization) and how they differ from graphs of an action potential in a typical cardiac myocyte?

69) Gap junctions/electrical synapses?

70) How does exercise effect heart rate, stroke volume, shunting of blood to various organs, vasoconstriction/dilation of arteries in different parts of the body?

71) Draw and describe an EKG; describe the significance of the P-R interval in terms of AV node delay and AV node block?

72) Describe the Frank-Starling law of the heart?

Explanation / Answer

67)In our retina of en each eye there is the small portion of the visual field and that portion corresponds to the optic disk position which is so-called optic nerve head. In this area there is no any rods and cones i.e. photoreceptors present in the optic disk, and, because of this reason, image detection is not possible in this area. In the right eye, the blind spot is present towards the right of the center of vision and similarly happens in the left eye. The overlapping between the visual fields of the two eye causes the inability of the blind spot to perceive images. This happened even with one eye closed. Subjectively, its difficult to detect blind spot this happens as our brain acts smartly and its “fill in” or ignore the missing portion of the image.

Blind spot test :

A B

To check the blind spot in our eye we placed the two letters in your screen A AND B. To check the blind spot in right eye focus on letter A and close the left eye similarly, B for the left eye and vise versa. Place your eye a distance from the screen approx.equal to 3× the distance between the A and the B. Move your eye away or towards from the screen until you perceive the letter B disappears. And that point is your blind spot. similarly, you can check with left eye with letter B
