Explanation / Answer

2-6)Self-esteem refers to general feelings of self-worth or self-value. Self-efficacy is belief in one's capacity to succeed at tasks. General self-efficacy is belief in one's general capacity to handle tasks. Specific self-efficacy refers to beliefs about one's ability to perform specific tasks (e.g., driving, public speaking, studying, etc.) Self-esteem is the level of self-respect and worth one has for himself. Someone who does not feel happy about the way she looks may have low self-esteem and feel she is not worthy of anyone's love or acceptance. This person most likely deems outer beauty as being important in her life and will probably do everything to look beautiful while still not 'feeling' beautiful. Self-efficacy is the belief in our ability to succeed and our level of competence. This idea was developed by the psychologist, Albert Bandura. Take for instance scoring high on the SATs. A person who has a high self-efficacy will perceive himself as performing well on the SAT. A person's percieved ability to succeed can also be influenced by their actual capabilities to do well, social factors such as seeing others similar to them performing well or others complimenting them on being smart enough or intelligent enough to do well. 2-7)Self-monitoring is a concept that denotes the way people monitor (or observe) and manage (or regulate) themselves in a social setting given a variety of visual, vocal and verbal cues. Low self monitors tend to use inner beliefs and values in deciding how to behave, while high self monitors tend to monitor their surroundings and change their behavior to fit in. High self-monitors are sort of like chameleons. They are people who more readily modify the way they present themselves in a social setting in response to social cues. High self-monitors worry more about how appropriate their behavior is in a given social setting. Their modification of their outward appearance and behavior can be done to impress others or to better fit into a social environment. People who are high self-monitors are thus more likely to find themselves in fields like public relations, sales, politics, law, diplomacy and, as the introduction mentioned, acting. All of these fields require an ability to easily portray oneself in a manner that may not be ''who you are'' or how you're feeling at the moment, because of the social environment at hand. On the flip side are people who are low self-monitors. Instead of worrying about outside factors like the social environment and its cues for ''appropriate'' behavior, low self-monitors regulate themselves with respect to their internal beliefs. They do not like putting on a façade. If they're happy, you'll know. If they're sad, you'll know. And it'll be regardless of the social setting.
