NIST Cybersecurity Framework:
It is nothing but a standard that must be followed in order to improve the security for the organization.
Framework Stages:
1.) Functions:
There are five levels in this stage. They are identify, protect, detect, respond, recover.
i) Identify: It involves the development of organizational standards to manage cyber risks to the system.
ii) Protect: It involves the development of an approach which safeguards and ensures delivery of critical infrastructure services.
iii) Detect: It involves in developing and implementing the activities to identify the occurrence of cybersecurity.
iv) Respond: It involves in the development of activities that take action when they detect a cybersecurity event.
v) Recover: It involves in the development of activities to maintain plans for resilience.
This NIST CSF is effective. NIST's goal with the creation of the CSF is to help eliminate the utterly fragmented cybersecurity landscape we find ourselves in, and it couldn't matter more at this point in the history of the digital world.
It is not perfect for cyber risk management. So, revised versions of NIST has been released.
The NIST is a high-level framework. When it is followed correctly, it sets up a solid security foundation, if the revisions are incorporated, guides organizations to making sure they are hitting all the bases.
