Marketing Question
1) In the article “Proved at last: Men really are idiots,” (http://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-male-idiot-theory-bmj-christmas-20141212-story.html) author Melissa Healy says that, “New research has rigorously tested Male Idiot Theory, which posits that, well, men are idiots and are driven to take ridiculous risks despite the clear prospects for self-harm, and for no defensible reason.” Note that the original study is titled “The Darwin Awards: sex differences in idiotic behavior” and is available at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1136/bmj.g7094 Should you use the LA Times article to inform marketing decisions about targeting men? Why or why not? How might news stories differ from the original study source?
Explanation / Answer
The LA times article should be used to inform the marketing decisions about targetting men. The scientific explanation for the Male Idiotic Theory in which researchers examined that men are idiots and are prone to take humourous risks although there is clear prediction of self-alarm. The British Medical Journal shows that Male Idiotic Thoery is strictly scrutinized by scientific theory. There is little database for the evaluation of gender differences in the likelihood of any person to get involved in idiotic behaviour which is Darwin's Awards. The winners of the awards have sterilized or self-destructed themselves which has done humanity as great service. The award winners removed themselves from the human gene pool to eliminate any kind of confusion in humanity. Recipients of the award are mostly terrorist and thieves posting insufficient posts.
When men and women are driven to idiocy the null hypothesis would not sustain, QED : Men are idiots.
A broader view of evolution by suggested that the awardee of the Darwin's award may unwittingly got involved in some abnormal behaviuor. By sacrificing their ability to reproduce they contributed to the species survival.
