Collaborate and prepare an argument for either the "Pro" side or the "Con" side in the discussion of a Military Draft. Good luck!! TOPIC OF DEBATE IS MILITARY DRAFT
I would speak for the motion i.e Military draft should be applicable.
First of all we would discuss the befits to the individuals being a part of the defense services. The single biggest asset of the defense personnel is their discipline and the single most important missing factor in the lives of civilian is the same. A Military draft would lead to every individual to undergo the physical fitness, discipline, orderliness necessary to live in a civilized society. The very basic training (and not the serving in the services, serving in a combat role is still faroff) is the life changing event of an individual. It teaches us to eat timely, drink in limits, obey your seniors, take care of your juniors, be fair to your peers, work hard and get rewarded, awarded, physical work out daily etc. All these lead to a great physical well being. Next is the mental wellbeing where the training and the service period teaches us to control our mind when we are in tough situations or when we are not being overlooked by others. Such virtues in all individuals add to the social and spiritual well being.
But more importantly, Why shouldn’t every capable national serve in the same roles for equal number of years since that role serves the same country where he lives in. Just because you WISHED and HAD THE MEANS (intellectual or financial assets) to become a surgeon does not mean you are entitled not to do your due part towards the country.
What if every individual stops joining the defense services citing hazardous work conditions, low compensation, facilities, after-retirement glooms and financial struggle, then who would guard the borders, serve during times of national crisis. All the dreams (referring to the surgeon) and aspirations of every citizen would be jeopardized in such a case. Hence it is a fair proposition that everyone serves the country in the uniform.
IT should be so much ingrained in our culture that it should be a part of the growth stags like Infant, Toddler, child, teen, adult, SERVICE, mid aged, old aged.
