Since past century LGBT lesbian,gay,transgender and bisexual have been recognized and are socially accepted on a large scale worldwide and yet their is a vast bridge in recognizing and working in harmony in organizations. When it comes to LGBT rights in different countries it goes from zenith to nadir. People are still categorizing respective community as "medical abnormality" or "social disfunctional" group. Such thinking runs deep in people's mind which hinders LGBT community to be socially and ethically accepted in the organizations. This paper focuses on the argument between major and minor sexual orientation of people in the work environment and why it is relevant if the competencies are enough?
1. INTRODUCTION
LGBT- lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender are an important yet undermined and unrecognized group of society. From marriage being legalised to death peanltiy for LGBT community across the world, the question of acceptance as equal in organizations is an important issue to be addressed. According to a recent survey this community opens up comfortably about their sexuality a great deal in front of their colleagues and managers out of which their question of acceptance socially and equally still hangs in balance. Most of the people does not wish to open up in front of anyone about their sexuality openly, because of the fear of rejection, discrimination or termination. In 1992, only two Fortune 500 companies offered benefits to this community whereas in 2011 67% provides such benefits to make LGBT more comfortable in working without any hindrance.
Despite their workforce and growing numbers, the "sexual minorities" still remained as one of the least studied group. This topic has been a taboo among different areas of study, being it sociology or psychology or general management.
