This TED talk introduces the probability of artificial intelligence becoming a behemoth that we may eventually can't handle. He is correct in saying that we need to keep improving our technology--particularlly artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence will help us in our everyday life, but we need to put a cap on it before they end up having a mind of their own. If they are able to improve themselves without our wanting, they can do whatever they want if they see fit. If they do not like something, they will have the capabilities to make this just in their eyes. We will end up succumbing to their pressure because their will not be anything we can do to stop them because they might be able to save themselves for shut downs that we try to impose upon them. The bottom line is that we should be scared of what is capable of artificial intelligence. It is a race in the world today to make the first super artificial intelligence being but they are not thinking of the consequences that may arise. In the talk, Sam states that the currents within an artificial intelligence machine is many times faster than the currents of our thinking. This means that no matter how many precautions or bugs that we think we are able to avoid, the artificial intelligence already thought of that problem and may have already found a way around it. There is also other problems that the intelligence being could come up with that we do not know and know the answer before we can even decipher it.
Explanation / Answer
Answer)
Technology is very important today in everybody's lives. Using Internet, smartphones, computers, social networking, IoT, cloud systems, all of these implementations are slowly migrating to Artificial Intelligence for better performance and more efficient activities. Artificial intelligence is all about when the computers can think, can perform intelligent activities, can take decisions on their own.
This is helpful but at the same time it is dangerous as well. Thus using Artificial intelligence, although it is at a very nascent stage now, we should put a cap on the use such as we control the machines and computers and not the other way round. Thus machines should not become so intelligent, as they have a mind of their own and they get out of control and thus do anything at their will. Machines may improve themselves without our consent, they can perform any activities as they want and we would not be able to stop them when matters get out of our hand and when machines become more intelligent and uncontrollable.
Thus, artificial intelligence research and development and its use should be limited as to a cap has to be there that limits the implementations of it. At a very nascent stage as artificial intelligence is, we can just say this, there may be n number of other problems which can occur once artificial intelligence develops more and more.
