Some of the other useful things are, the understandability of requirements, understanding their perspective of work, acquiring the domain knowledge, etc.
User story being a tool in Agile software development helps to capture the description of the functioning of the software from a user's perspective. Indeed, it simplifies the description of a requirement. Because of its clear and concise characteristics hence it helps in creating a scrum team.
As mentioned above it helps one to gather information about the system, type of tools, functionality, features etc.
