Question
Please help me give out CALCULATIONS of the table. I understand how to calculate EST and EFT, but not LST and LFT. For example, what is the LST of A? if I don't know the LFT. or the LST of C
ADM2302: Business Analytics Final Exam - Fall 2015 Problem 5 - Project Management (15 points) Russia is hosting the 2018 World Cup, a quadrennial international soccer tournament. A new stadium must be constructed in the City of Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The new stadium will have a capacity of 45,000 seats and host five matches during the tournament. The following activities would have to be undertaken before construction can begin on the stadium Activit Description Survey building site Develop initial design Obtain board approval Select architect Establish budget Finalize design Obtain financing Hire contractor Immediate Predecessor Time (weeks A, B 12 D, E 12 F, G a) Draw the project network (2 points)Explanation / Answer
First thing to be noted that all activities which lie on the critical path has ZERO Slack .From the given table it is thus clear that the CRITICAL PATH of the project is :
START – B – C-E-F -H-END
Slack of an activity = Late Start Time ( LST) – Early Start time ( EST)
OR,
Late Finish time ( LFT ) – Early Finish time ( EFT)
Thus Slack of an activity indicates by how much an activity can be delayed without changing overall completion time of the project
With above logic , Slack for activity A i.e. time by which activity A can be delayed will be = Duration of Start-B- C - Duration of Start-A-C = 20 – 18 = 2 weeks
It means that activity A can be delayed by maximum e2 weeks without delaying completion time of the project.
Hence ,
Late Start time for activity A = Early Start time of activity A + 2 weeks
Late Finish time for activity A = Early finish time for activity A + 2 weeks
Trust your query is clarified.
