Question

I'm working on expanding my one page written paper on handling a team member that doesnt show up. Can you assist me in expanding this paragraph below. You are a chair in an academic department and you are currently managing a major project to revamp the curriculum for your department’s major. Because of the complexity and significance of the revisions, which will impact student progress, you have scheduled weekly meetings. Because of university rules, it is necessary to have at least a minimum number of faculty present for all meetings. If too few faculty are in attendance, no official decisions can be made. Each faculty member in the department has been assigned a specific task, with a designated deadline to present recommendations & answer any questions or concerns. One person is chronically absent from the weekly meetings. She does send drafts of her recommendations for her assigned tasks, but is not present to explain those recommendations or respond to questions. Other faculty occasionally miss a weekly meeting, but provide a reason – attending a conference, illness, etc. She does not provide a reason; she just does not show up. On several occasions, her absence meant that there were not enough people there to vote. What will you do to handle this problem?

Explanation / Answer

Being the Chair of the academic department I would take the following steps to address this issue:-

So According to me the above course of action would be apt and valid to issue the problem that the whole project is facing due to unavailability of a single person from the proceedings.

Hope this helps. Cheers!
