3) Server 1 sends a message to workstation 3

Consider the local area network shown in Figure 1 below Figure 1 LAN A LAN B Hub Switch Bridge Workstation 2 MAC address: Server 1 Workstation 1 01-04-1F.F1-BB-88 Workstation 3 MAC address: MAC address: MAC address: 05-06-2FU1-RR-55 00-03-1F-F1-EB-59 04-01-1G-00-YB-900 Suppose that the bridging tables are as follow: Port B table Port A table 00-03-1F-F1-EB-59 04-01-1G-00-YB-90 01-04-1F-F1-BB-88 05-06-2F-U1-RR-55

Explanation / Answer

Solution 1: Workstation 2 gets the message and the hub in LAN A gets the message.

Solution 2: When a message is send through bridge and the destination address is not known then the bridge initially broadcasts the message to all the computers connected to the hub of other LAN. So in this case bridge will recieve the message and workstation 3 and Server 1 will also recieve the mesage.

Solution 3: Server 1 and workstation 3 are in the same network so hub in LAN B and workstation 3 will get the message.

Solution 4: As bridge does not has the address of the workstation 1 so it will broadcast the message to all the workstation connected in LAN A. Thus, bridge and the workstations 1 and 2 will receive the message.
