Explanation / Answer

Answer:

A nice idea would be a pen made of bamboo as in most part of the world bamboos grow naturally without much use. A bamboo is free and strong enough fro a pen. It can be coloured in green and nice little quiotes can be written on them.

The specific compressive strength of Bamboo is relatively higher than wood, brick, or concrete, because of its structure. Additionally, it have high specific tensile strength that rivals steel.

Hence, Bamboo pens can easily be made and the cost per pen will be way below then $1.
