Explanation / Answer

Answer

The major change we have experienced at our organization is the change in the product designs.

Product Change from A type to B type: - At our organization, we were producing A type of product which were meeting the customer requirements. But last year customer demanded for new product B type, which should be suitable for their new Engines at the lower price with higher durability and quality levels. This was the major change at our organization as it calls for lot of change activities at the plant, starting from suppliers, plant operations and customer product lines.

People’s reaction to change: Employees were initially resistant and not happy against these changes, as these changes of shift from product A to product B is going to bring a lot of new actions for all the employees at the plant. The employees of all departments will undergo major change and they will need to revise their processes for accommodating the new product. Following are the changes applicable at each department levels as below

I was also reacted in the same manner as other employees reacted for this change. It was not easy task for all of us and we are heavily engaged in organizing the change activities at the plant level for our organization. These changes created lot of work for all of us. We all are not happy due to this major change at the plant levels.

Change Management: Yes the change manager done the good work in term of managing the change at the plant. The change was planned in very systematic manner and the change was assigned to each and every department representative with due approval and involvement from each department leader of head. The person who was responsible for this change was full time working for this change management. He did a great work in terms of involvement and engagement of all key employees from each and every department, so that all affected persons are aware of the change and they can initiate the necessary action at their end.

Manager could have done better: If the change manager were able to address and resolve the initial resistant of the employees and help them to accept the change in easy way could help for speedy execution and completion of the change at the plant. More explanation at the beginning of the change to all employees would be better for the organization to manage the change effectively. The appropriate communication is a key tool for the change management.
